Ford Outpost was originally created by the Ford and Melvill families as a private retreat for family and friends. Due to growing interest, we’ve opened this special place for others to enjoy.
Named in honour of our 1820 Settler heritage, the camp is set on a private farm beside one of the Eastern Cape’s exclusive Big Five reserves, just outside Kenton-on-Sea. Designed to capture the charm of a traditional bush camp with the comfort of thoughtful amenities, Ford Outpost is furnished with classic Melvill & Moon pieces inspired by the style of the 1800s.

Ford Outpost is a fully self-catering private bush camp sleeping up to 8 adults in four raised safari tents — two large tents with double beds and two smaller tents with twin beds.
A central mess tent includes a basic kitchen, dining area, bar, and lounge, while open-air bathrooms feature flushing toilets and hot water.
Stay privately in your own bush camp — and add as much adventure or comfort as you like.
Choose from Big 5 game drives, river cruises, guided birding tours, private chef dinners at camp, and family-friendly extras designed to make your stay even more memorable.
All experiences are arranged before arrival and include transport to and from camp.
